NAQT Canadian Intercollegiate Fall Tournament Saturday, November 11, 2000 The Canadian IFT 2000 Tournament was held at the Math & Computer Building of the University of Waterloo. There was a field of 8 teams with 5 teams in Division I: - Bowling Green State University - Univ. of Michigan Left - Univ. of Michigan Right - Univ. of Michigan Center - Queen's University (Canadian) And 3 teams in Division II: - Univ. of Waterloo I (Canadian) - Univ. of Waterloo II (Canadian) - Univ. of Western Ontario (Canadian) Round Robin Format ------------------ The round robin pooled all 8 teams with 7 games having each team playing all other teams once and 3 Power Round games having the top 4 teams (from the 7 games played) playing each other and the bottom 4 teams playing each other. Waterloo B II 0 10 380 2260 Playoff format -------------- For the playoffs, we implemented a double-elimination format with all 8 teams and seeded accordingly to their round robin standing. Eventually, the final had two remaining teams with one team having a one-game advantage. The Division I final saw Michigan Center vs. Michigan Right with Michigan Center having a one-game advantage. Michigan Center defeated Michigan Right in Game 1 of the final by a score of 355-295. For the Division II final, the seeding of the Div II teams were based on how well the team did in the playoffs. The seedings were as follows: 1. Waterloo A 2. Western 3. Waterloo B Seed 1 received a BYE. Seeds 2 and 3 played one game to determine who would play 1 for the title. The final had the same format as Div I with 1 receiving a one-game advantage. The final saw Waterloo A against Western Ontario. Waterloo A defeated Western in Game 1 of the final by a score of 255-60. As the smoke settled, Adam came out as Canadian IFT tournament MVP by average points per game with 49.64. Honorable mention goes to Zeke for leading the tourney in the number Power Tossups gotten with an impressive 29 Powers, including two games receiving 5 POWERS EACH!
